Part 3: Understanding importance of the Privacy Act

So here is my conclusion to this three part series on why we cannot as Canadians use the vac pass in good conscience.

Many people are asking: if it is illegal, then how is the government doing it and enforcing it?” We are by using it, by agreeing to it. It is illegal but we when we sign up and use it, we are agreeing to give up our privacy and more importantly our medical history.

The hostess at the Cactus Club suddenly is aware of your medical choices and if you have had your booster. But what makes it ok? How is that legal? We agree to it. This is the legal roundabout to make it “legal.” Every time we use and it is scanned, we agree to our give up our privacy. For example if a crime is committed against a person, that person has a right to press charges or not. If charges are not laid, it does not mean the person is innocent. It just means they were not persecuted. This is similar, because we agree to get the vaccine pass, then it allows for our medical history to be exposed. Today, Covid vaccine? Tomorrow?

But this is what I hear:

“It’s no big deal, just a picture on my phone”

“But that’s what the government wants to do”

“It’s not a big deal, just a vac card, it is not hurting anyone”

“The government not going to remove so no use not getting it”

Remember when our sibling drove us nuts and we hit him or her? Remember what mama said: “two wrongs don’t make a right” and we got in trouble for our reaction to our sibling’s behaviour.

“But I deserve to go out and eat, I did what the government wanted. I did the right thing. I deserve that steak.”

For many of us, restaurants are the after fact of our rights being taking away. We care too deeply to not care about to going the gym, going out to eat in a restaurant or seeing hockey games. It is the spirit of the action behind it that we stand against. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms clearly state that our movement cannot be hindered within our country or coming and going. The vaccine pass only allows those who are willing to participate in a medical procedure to be able to move freely. We must also remember that even if you agree to the procedure unless you are willing to share that information to participate in society. Most importantly, there is no law or reason that our movement of citizens can be hindered so therefore our governments, both provincially and federally, are literally breaking the law through our consent. We allow it.

But the critics say “our rights are not absolute”

But imagine we are away to walk away from this pandemic but our children’s rights are not returned?

But the critics say “our right will be returned after”

But Justin Trudeau in a recent speech has literally stated that “that regardless that we are …. limiting your fundamental rights and the charter says that is wrong. We are still going ahead and do it. It’s basically a loophole that allows a majority to override fundamental rights of an minority” https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/video-prime-minister-says-the-notwithstanding-clause-is-not-a-great-thing-to/

Let’s unpack that sentence:

  1. He does admit that our rights are fundamental

  2. The charter states that it is wrong

  3. But they are still going to do it

Does this sound temporary. In analytical opinion, not at all. Does that sound legal?

Maybe you are ok with it? But I am most certainly not. And am I the minority?

I think the truck convoy is speaking volumes of polite Canadians. The rumour is that it is longest convoy in history which has even made it in the Guinness book of records but most likely just a fun meme. I believe the prime minister, like many with the loudest voices, that silence does not always mean consent. I am reminded of 1 Kings 19:11-12. When God went to spoke to Elijah; he was not in violent winds, earthquakes, or fire but rather a light silent sound. This is a good lesson to all of us. I encourage all those protesting this weekend to remember this.

The next few weeks will be historic and will play a much bigger role in future for Canadians and may even cause change the charter so it will not include clauses that put our rights at risk.

But let’s go back to the Vaccine Pass.

My personal vaccine status is private (as the privacy act guarantee) and will stay as such but regardless if I am or not eligible for a vaccine pass; I will not participate in what many call a “show me your papers” (I think we dived into enough in my past two blogs) society. I will not participate in activities or support businesses that support such a society. This card exposes my medical history but “it isn’t a big deal.” Maybe to you it is not but to me, giving up that is giving up my freedom.

But “Am I giving up my life?” “Am I giving up my freedom?” “Don’t I want my life back?” if I don’t get a vaccine pass. It is literally the opposite, the government might be trying to impose “restrictions” on me but I have never felt more free as Greek Canadian in my life or more proud to be one. I’m honoured to be able to move a stance in the country that my parents picked as the country to raise me in. I’m willing to give up things to make sure that I’m providing a future that I can be proud of for my children. My freedom was always mine regardless of the current government claims, I am free and will work to make sure that government’s plan supports that.

We are so privileged in Canada that if we have the inability to go to the gym, a bar or even Walmart (in Quebec) then we feel like the victim and give into pressure. “I want my life back” is the biggest reason for receiving the vaccine I had heard. It isn’t that they did research to see if it was the right medical decision. I wonder if these same people would purchase a car that way? But regardless of your vaccine status, we need to remember this is not about getting a vaccine. I hope and pray that was not your reasoning. Gyms may have reopened in BC to segregated society but remember they did close and restrictions have not been lifted. For those who use a vaccine pass, is your life pre-Covid back?

We need to understand that vaccine is just an excuse for our government to create a social credit system.

I encourage you all to look into what it is and how dangerous it is. I see the damage from it already in play here from stars award system for good behaviour (social distancing, wearing your mask etc) in schools. Our children are constantly anxious. I’ve seen children young as 3 years pull their mothers masks back up and remind them to make sure to wear their masks. I see kids panic because their parents were not standing directly on the circle. I constantly see parents on my social media looking for support for their children due to “Covid life.” It is anything from speech therapists to psychologists. Is this a future that we want for the next generations. To fear each other and themselves?

As well let’s be brutally honest, the vaccine pass is a “you are a good citizen so now you can go play with your friends” reward. I’m not sure where rights suddenly became rewards for good behaviour such as they are in prison. There is certain rights that fundamental (like the prime minister even said) and they include body autonomy “my body, my choice” and the privacy to do so. I should not be able to pass a restaurant or gym and be able to know everyone’s their medical history. It doesn’t not matter if it is a positive or negative judgment; it is none of my business.

But some will say “but there are certain things we have to do participate in society.” We forget it is such as following the lights at a crosswalk. It is not infringing on other’s rights and privacy. I’m unsure how lost this understanding of something so basic and fundamental has been lost.

A reward for participating in a medical procedure breaks another important societal rule; the right of medical consent without coercion. If someone is pressed to need something to participate in a group then that is the very definition of coercion. In BC, vaccines were not ever mandatory to hold certain jobs or participate in society’s activities or limiting our movement as Canadians (again, this has nothing to do with travel. An another country can dictate vaccines to enter, as we are guests in their country and if we want to enter then it is our choice). I believe this is the most important issue; our movements being limited if we do not agree to a treatment plan that many agree is experimental without much results. Again, I would remind you that it is not about the vaccine (that is our choice) but rather a medical apartheid that is created because of mandates.

Since I started drafting this conclusion, the last man, Brian Peckford, who was part of the group of Canadians who wrote our charter is literally suing our federal government saying they are breaking the law. This man fought for us to have a charter, I think we can all agree he clearly understands what it says. He wrote it. I encourage all of you to watch the Jordan Peterson’s interview with him. https://youtu.be/EdhFuMDLBDM

So to finish up this 3-part series, it is not about if you got the vaccine or not. It was your decision either way and you did what you believe was best (that’s all we can do as individuals). The issue is the reward system that is being used.

On January 29 2022, there is an initiative to stop following all mandates. The decision is yours to make.

Side note: vancitygreeks asked me if I support the truckers and if they will be successful. Only God knows if they succeed, but I am supporting them. They have united Canadians regardless of their vaccines status. I believe that it is creating a stronger identity of what it means to be Canadian. I pray for their success.
